Þema, markmið og nánar um MOS:

The aim of the study visit is to show how primary schools in Flanders integrate climate and environment issues in  their education, and how they are supported by the MOS-team and the local and Flemish government. Participants will get ample time to share their own national experiences with their peers

What is MOS?

MOS is the ESD programme of the government of Flanders and Brussels. Our organization is a cooperation between 7 partners: the government of Flanders, (more specific the department for Environment and Spatial Planning), the 5 Flemish provinces and the Flemish Community Centre in Brussels. Free of any charge we support schoolteachers and principals to implement ESD in their schools. In the past we focused on nature- and environmental education. Today, the focus is mainly on ESD and the way in which pupils can handle local and global sustainability issues.

MOS believes that when head (knowledge and thinking)/heart (emotions and values)/hands (action, doing something and experience differences) are integrated in educational interventions they can equip individuals and groups with necessary competences to make conscious choices for a liveable world.

MOS empowers schools by tailor made coaching, teacher trainings and inspiration.

MOS became part of the international Eco-Schools programme (and FEE) in 2004. Outstanding MOS-schools earn the Eco-School level: they receive the Green Flag and become ambassadors within the ESD-network.”

The study visit will take place in Kortrijk (https://www.toerismekortrijk.be/en/see-and-do). The city can easily be reached by train from Brussels Airport (1h40). Participants will be staying at Parkhotel, located right across Kortrijk Train Station (https://www.parkhotel.be/index-en.aspx).

This event is part of the LTA on Sustainability, supporting the horizontal priority within the Erasmus+-programme.
